Housing and Welfare
The exhibition and the conference will bring together people across disciplines and countries to discuss urban and suburban developments. With a focus on housing and urban spaces, the conference and exhibition question the role of architecture and built environments in relation to change and transformations of our societies.
The exhibition focuses on future Copenhagen. A city that – like many other cities – has been through innumerable changes, expansions and renewals. These changes continuously invite us – scholars, practitioners, stakeholders and citizens – to examine and discuss the current state of urban and suburban developments; and to reflect on the future of our cities.
Different actors – the central and local governments, inter-governmental organisations, landlords, private developers and other private agencies – are now playing increasingly important roles in the development of housing and city. They are not only decisive for modes and temporalities of urbanisation, but also introduce new logics and approaches that influence our everyday conduct in the city.
The exhibition Housing and Welfare – Homes|Ensembles|City will open its door on 18 March 2015 – venue is open to the public from 19 March to 14 May 2015 – at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation in Copenhagen.
The conference Housing and Welfare – Boundaries|Encounters|Connections will take place on 7-8 May 2015 at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation in Copenhagen.
We look forward to seeing you in Copenhagen!
