Call for papers, lightning talks and posters for
“Schools of Thought: Rethinking Architectural Pedagogy,”
“Schools of Thought: Rethinking Architectural Pedagogy,” is designed to bring together scholars, architects, and designers to explore questions about how we teach design. Session organizers invite papers, lightning talks, and poster proposals on diverse topics in design education, including:
- Pedagogy in Transition
- Participatory Design and Community Engagement
- Decolonizing Architectural Pedagogies
- Engaging Design-Build Pedagogy
- Poster Sessions
- Lightning Talk Sessions
Session Chairs
Among the distinguished session chairs are:
- Harriet Harriss, incoming Dean of Architecture at Pratt Institute
- Christian Dagg, Head of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at Auburn University
- Winifred Elysse Newman, Professor and Director of the Institute for Intelligent Materials, Systems and Environments at Clemson University
- Justin Ferguson, Assistant Dean at Ball State University’s College of Architecture and Planning
Keynotes and Supplemental Events
Keynote lecturers during “Schools of Thought” include
Beatriz Colomina, Howard Crosby Butler Professor in the History of Architecture at Princeton University, and Joan Ockman, Senior Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania.
Exhibition
“Renegades: Bruce Goff and the American School of Architecture” at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, and include tours of Herb Greene’s groundbreaking “Prairie House” (1961) and downtown Oklahoma City, including the Oklahoma City National Memorial (2000), designed by Hans E. and Torrey Butzer.
