The Artistic Research Alliance represents a collective effort to champion artistic research (AR) on both European and international platforms.
This Alliance embraces the diversity of artistic research, bringing together academic institutions and independent researchers across all artistic disciplines. These include architecture, design, film, photography, fine art, media and digital arts, music and performing arts, creative writing, circus arts, and transdisciplinary work.
At our meeting in Vienna on 27 September 2024, the Alliance emphasized the need for collaborative action on key policy and funding frameworks, building on key foundational documents: The Vienna Declaration on Artistic Research (2020), The Florence Principles on the Doctorate in the Arts (2016), and Proposed Changes to the Frascati Manual (2022). Through regular knowledge exchange, the Alliance will shape a collective advocacy strategy that includes joint campaigns, policy papers, representation in stakeholder consultations, and participation in interdisciplinary forums for policy and discourse development.
