Design Research, Series on Method is a series of research seminars, systematically focussing on particular approaches of research by design.
Next event is taking place in Winterthur, Switzerland. Participation is free, there is no fee for registration. However, the number of participants is limited.

In some fields, design research seems more apparent than in others: scenario design successfully offers new insights to urban planners and policy makers; a renewed appreciation for the process of making and material evidence leads to expanding and enhancing spatial sensitivity; artistic practice, driven by intuition and emotion, offers new ways to explore and understand architectural concepts.
The mediating artefacts which are impelling the process of inquiry in these approaches – urban scenarios, spatial installations, expressive conceptual graphics – however, are peripheral to the basic unit of architecture, which is the building.
DR_SoM will restore this focal unit of architectural production, and dedicate this Winterthur research seminar to the mutual relationship between ‘architectural design research’ and ‘building’ (both as an epistemic object and as a sense-making process).
