TED University (TEDU) is a young, dynamic university, located in the heart of Ankara. It was founded in 2012 by the Turkish Education Association (TED), which has been pioneering the development of education in Turkey since 1928. With an emphasis on liberal arts education, TEDU aims to foster graduates, who are creative, critical-minded, self-confident and well-rounded. The University consists of five faculties: Architecture, Arts and Sciences, Economics and Administrative Sciences; Education and Engineering, and English. TEDU Faculty of Architecture, founded including the Department of Architecture, which provides bachelor’s degree in the field of architecture. But today the faculty also includes Department of City and Regional Planning, Department of Industrial Design and Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design.

Architecture Programme in TEDU, with an ambition to establish a critical culture towards built environment by relating architectural education and practice to social and cultural contexts; aims for the education of architects, who will be researchers equipped with analytical and flexible thinking skills, capable of generating and transforming knowledge, and able to develop creative solutions with an awareness towards professional ethics.

The programme is founded on the basis of creating new and innovative methods for the processes of design and creation of built environment, while instituting disciplinary grounds for an understanding of sustainable environments. The department aims to define an environment that facilitates interdisciplinary information exchange by incorporating the student oriented education policy of TED University and the practice of learning by doing. The studio culture is at the heart of the design education in TEDU.

Department of Architecture is located within the main campus that is located at the centre of the city.
The medium of instruction at the undergraduate and graduate programmes are English.

Student Activities

TEDU campus is located in the heart of the city; equidistant to every neighbourhood of Ankara and next to the arterial public transportation. TEDU offers a serene and comfortable education environment with a specially designed architecture that motivates students in every aspect. TEDU facilitates cultural activities in the student centres located at the campus and realizes a chain of activities like club activities, concerts, theatre performances, films and exhibitions. TEDU students can use the semi-olympic swimming pool and the fitness centre located at the campus during the week and the weekends. The facilities also host a number of social and sportive activities organized by the student clubs and societies.

The Student Counselling Centre aims to support the physical, social and academic development of TEDU students. It also helps the students to overcome the possible problems they face during their development process and find preventive solutions and mentor them in making healthy and accurate decisions. The Student Counselling Centre (SCC) offers services as individual counselling, group counselling, workshops, seminars and orientation programs for the new students.

TEDU offers a pioneering e-university model. TEDU Information Management System provides an integrated management and communication service for the students, academicians, administrators, university personnel and all the related stakeholders of the university.

Accommodation

Our University has a student residence with 93 bed capacity for male students established in the 2015-2016 academic year. Our two - block student residence for female students with 392 bed capacity is established in the 2016- 2017 academic year. Our dormitories are designed in a way that will meet all the basic needs of the students. All our rooms include bathrooms and the residence offers common areas for recreation, studying and social activities.For further information on accommodation please visit

Bachelor, Bachelor of Architecture, 4 years, 240,

Undergraduate degree is based on a four-year study with emphasis on architectural design studio. The programme also requires 60-days professional internship both at an architectural office and construction site. TEDU Department of Architecture also provides a Minor Programme in Architectural Culture, which is offered to students from all departments of TEDU. (240 ECTS)


Graduate, Graduate Programme, Architecture and Urban Studies, 2 years, 120,

Graduate Program requires participants of graduates of all design and planning disciplines, to contribute scientific research and knowledge in the field of architecture and urban studies, making it evident with creative technologies and current theories, sharing it with a graduate thesis.


TED University Department of Architecture provides an education, which largely relies on design studios in order to equip the students with necessary professional knowledge and skills. The communication that is promoted in between different faculties and the interactive education that is provided by TED University enables the students to actively participate in the process to conduct disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research and application, as well as acquiring technical and theoretical knowledge. The flexible structure of the program is considered as a system, which enables the students to choose departmental and non-departmental elective courses and improve themselves in fields of their own interests. An educational structure is targeted where the students are able to use technical infrastructure, facilities and knowledge of other departments and faculties as a result of the rich pool of elective courses to be formed in cooperation of different faculties and the inter-disciplinary studies, and where minor programs are widely available besides the major undergraduate programs.

MS Graduate Programme with Thesis (120 ECTS)

Architecture and Urban Studies, MAUS,
Graduate Program offers its graduates the capacity and awareness to comprehend issues in architecture and urban studies, with a critical mind of reflection and clarity of practice in an interdisciplinary manner with creative intentions and outcome. The programme addresses research in scholarship and scholarship of research with innovative paradigms.

The programme enhances research in fields such as problems of the modern city and constraints of its governance; new parameters for the quality of urban life; the impact of new social media on architecture and the city; the rule of compact new technologies and the changing medium of design and planning. With its comparative and inter-disciplinary approach, the program brings together particular and macro historiography; local conventions and recent innovative technologies; local and universal rules, codes and policies; crafts and industrial interfaces; studies on place and space; comparative historiography of field research; histories of design and planning education.
