EAAE Annual Conference and General Assembly 2018: registration open

Please note that the registration is open for:
Under the title „Design Studio as laboratory for interactions between architectural education and society“, the EAAE Annual Conference 2018 is bringing together the representatives of the European Schools of Architecture – peers, scholars, researchers, students and practitioners – to question, inquire and discuss the relationship between architecture and society. The design studio has always been the backbone of architectural education, the driving force of architectural development and the nucleus of architectural debate. Today’s society confronts us with demanding questions for which no preconceived solutions are available. This calls for socially aware design experimentation. Can the studio raise this new awareness, preparing future architects to become agents of transformation? This conference is framed as a studio in itself. It entails practice, education and research.
Faculdade de Arquitectura at Universidade do Porto will act as hosting institution for the EAAE General Assembly and Annual Conference 2018. FAUP is one of the most prestigious Portuguese institutions of education, research and innovation in architecture. It is located in Porto, Portugal’s second largest city, with a privileged location on the Northern coast of the country. The complex of buildings housing the FAUP is one of the most emblematic creations of Álvaro Siza, Pritzker Prize winner in 1992, who will be cordially giving the opening lecture on August 29, 2018.
The Annual Conference 2018 will be sponsored by VELUX (http:// www.velux.com). VELUX is well known to architectural education, as every second year since 2004, VELUX Group has invited students of architecture to participate in the International VELUX Award (iva.velux.com).
