Faculty profile

The Faculty of Architecture (FA), or simply “the School” as people call it, since it dates back to the 16th century, is now one of the 18 faculties and institutes belonging to the University of Lisbon, following the merger between the classical University of Lisbon and the Technical University of Lisbon in 2013.
The scientific areas covered by the newly formed university range from sciences and engineering to the arts and the humanities, and include architecture and design. It has an intake of over 40.000 students and is one of the top European universities in the Shanghai ranking.
ULisboa has several campuses in various locations in Lisbon. The FA is one of four faculties located in the Ajuda Campus in the west of Lisbon, on a hill close to the Monsanto Park, 20 min from the city centre.

The Faculty of Architecture (FA) offers courses leading to undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees in the fields of Architecture, Urban Planning, Building Interiors and Renovation, Design and Fashion. It also offers non-degree courses that provide complementary training to professionals who wish to acquire more in-depth knowledge. This wide range of training makes the FA the largest and most diversified school in the country in its fields, with about 3 thousand students. It is also the school with the largest number of foreign exchange students from Europe, but also from countries in other continents with which the FA has exchange agreements.

As a modern school that tries to combine tradition and innovation, FA is a reference institution in the professional training of architects, urban planners and designers, as well as in the production of socially recognized specialized and interdisciplinary research.
