Architecture / School: Architettura e Società (1st School of Architecture) The programme has the objective of preparing students with a design capability based on scientific knowledge, on technical skills and on comparison with the reference social, economic and production context in order to operate with awareness in building transformation processes. The programme is taught in english.

Architecture Science (1st school of Architecture) In Milan, the programme also foresees a section in English. In Mantova, the issues of analysis and intervention in contexts of significant historical and environmental interest on the existing architectural heritage is explored.

Architecture Science (2nd school of Architecture)
The programme provides an educational programme in which the Architectural project refers to environments and scales of application: the city, the landscape, the building, the built-up environment and interiors.

Architecture and Building Construction / School: Architettura e Società (1st School of Architecture) The programme prepares technicians able to deal with the building construction process, giving an answer to the growing demand of professional skills with regard to project management, construction management and quantity surveyor. These new competences bridge the gap systematically highlighted by private businesses and Public Administrations, becoming strategic among the professions of the sector.

Building Architecture/ School: Architettura Civile (2nd School of Architecture)The student in Building Architecture acquires skills in the area of Architectural Design and Construction. The educational programme, characterised by the learning by doing methodology is focused on the central experience of the Architectural project referred to the city, the building and the built-up environment.

Environmental Architecture / School: Architettura e Società (1st School of Architecture) The programme explores the issues of environmental sustainability in the transformation of architectural design in contemporary built environments. The program gives students technical skills in trans-scalar, environmentally conscious architectural design. The Territorial Campus of Piacenza dedicates a particular attention to the sustainable transformation of public spaces at varying scales, focusing deeply on the following specific fields: bio-ecological architecture, construction of infrastructure, communication aesthetic, and regeneration of the natural landscape. The track is integrated with international programs including workshops, summer schools, and study-trips.

2x Urban Planning / School: Architettura e Società (1st School of Architecture) The graduate has the necessary know-how to evaluate the physical, historic, environmental and social-economic characteristics of the land, estimate the impact of transformation processes on the cultural, social, economic and environmental context and prepare plans, programmes and projects. One programme is taught in english.

Interior Design / School: Design. Design activity centres around internal space, operating not only on set-up and furnishing systems but also on the entire rage of components which make the space habitable (light, colour, texture, environmental comfort conditions, etc.).

Building Engineering/Architecture (5 years course) / School: Ingegneria Edile/Architettura (6th School of Engineering)The task of the Building Engineer – Architect is the design, execution and control of the quality of new and reclamation building interventions but also that of dealing with issues relating to the relation between settlements and the land, within the scope of urban and land planning and landscape and environmental evaluation.

The School of Doctoral Programs coordinates the Doctoral Degree Programs of Politecnico di Milano in the areas of engineering, architecture and industrial design. It ensures the quality of the Degree Programs and promotes its development. The PhD academic qualification is gained after a course of study and research lasting at least three years under the supervision of a Board of Professors.

Research has always been linked to didactics and is a priority commitment which has allowed Politecnico di Milano to achieve high quality results at an international level as to join the university to the business world.
Research activity moreover constitutes a parallel path to that formed by cooperation and alliances with the industrial system. Knowing the world in which you are going to work is a vital requirement for training students. By referring back to the needs of the productive, industrial world and public administration, research is facilitated in following new paths and dealing with the need for constant and rapid innovation.
