Schindler Global Award 2018/19
The Schindler Global Award (SGA) is a one-of-a-kind urban design competition that encourages students to put their skills to the test. The SGA kicked off in 2015 with a site in Shenzhen, China and later moved to São Paulo, Brazil for 2017. For the 2018/2019 competition the site is in Mumbai, India. Hundreds of teams have competed from around the world, using the SGA as a platform to learn and exchange ideas about sustainable urban development tied to mobility.
The competition is held under the leadership of the Schindler Global Group in collaboration with Professor Kees Christiaanse of the ETH Zürich, Chair of Architecture and Urban Design and Professor Peter Staub of the University of Liechtenstein, Chair of Architectural Design and Theory.
Teams compete for recognition of their work, and we have found that when entire studio classes participate the results are exemplary. Many of the past winners have come from schools where a professor or instructor used the SGA brief to structure their semester.
The SGA competition is open to enrolled students of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning worldwide. Students in their final year of a Bachelors degree or in any year of a Masters degree program are eligible, along with their international equivalents.
