The architectural profession relies for its reputation on the quality of the education of architects, as it is a knowledge-based profession. The profession is concerned to ensure that graduates from schools of architecture are adequately trained so that they can quickly take up the full role of an architect in a business environment. Schools are concerned to ensure that the education given to architects is fully balanced and does not emphasise one or other aspect of the architect's profile.
The collaboration between the profession and the schools of architecture ensures a balance between the needs of the profession and of the schools and also acts as platform for exchange of ideas and experiences relating to the EU legislative developments.
The Joint Working Party between the Architects' Council of Europe and the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE) is a vehicle for that collaboration and was established in 2005 with a mandate to remain in existence indefinitely.
